Vihms started with a simple idea: bring authentic, handmade Moroccan rugs to homes across the United States without the markup and guesswork that usually comes with shopping for one online.

We're based in Butte, Montana, and we work directly with rug makers in Morocco to bring their work to a wider audience. Every rug we carry is woven by hand using traditional Berber techniques, the same methods that have been passed down for generations. Each piece is made from natural wool, and the weaving process itself takes weeks rather than hours, which is part of why no factory-made rug ever quite looks the same.

What drew us to this in the first place was noticing how often rug shopping online turns into guesswork. Photos don't always match what arrives, sizing gets confusing, and customer service disappears the moment something needs fixing. We wanted to build something different: a store where the description matches the rug, the sizing is clear before you click buy, and there's an actual person to talk to if a question comes up.

That's still how we operate. We don't try to sell every type of rug or chase every trend. We focus on a curated selection of handmade Moroccan pieces, mostly wool, mostly geometric or abstract in design, and we try to describe each one the way we'd want it described if we were the ones buying it. That includes mentioning the small imperfections that come with handmade work, because those aren't flaws, they're part of what separates a handwoven rug from something printed on a machine.

We're a small operation, not a big retailer, which means orders are handled carefully rather than processed in bulk. If a question comes up about a rug's color, size, or shipping timeline, you can expect an actual answer, not a canned response. We'd rather take the time to get it right than rush something out the door.
